Standard Posting Symbols.
Most of this is pretty standard across the Internet/Other Trek PBEMs.
[Change of Character] Name in Brackets.
ie; [Hedges]
- To use when adding your interaction, or combining several posts, so that
individuals can be identified. Also used to add NPC's to expand upon your
own posts.
"Speaking" Use Quotation Marks.
ie; "Dammit Jim, I'm a Doctor, not a Particle Physicist!"
~Thinking~ Use a wavy line.
ie; ~I hope that Betazoid is not reading my mind right now?~
::Actions:: We used to use a double colon.
ie; ::Jumping the wall, Hedges rolled forward, grabbing his phaser as he
moved.::
NOTE: I have noticed that this is able to be dropped, enabling both action
description along with Narrative and general description all in one, I know
I do it, so this is less a problem.
=/\=Using Communicators=/\= Funky Starfleet Comm Badges (yep; equals,
forward slash, back slash, equals)
ie; =/\=Away team to Venture, two to beam up.=/\=
NOTE: Yes, this is speech without quotation marks, in theory they can be
added, as can an action, such as creating a data uplink over a comm
frequency. Up to you, but traditionally the former uses a Comm posting
symbol, while the latter becomes an ::action::
SHOUTING Words in Capitals.
ie; "THIS IS MUTINY MR. RUTHERFORD!"
::Whispering:: Italics if you are working in HTML, otherwise, add the
clarification as an action
"Keep quiet or the Hirogen will hear us!" ::He whispered urgently.::
When requiring a skill check Post a short OOC at the end of your post,
explaining which Skill, relevant Stat, and any applicable Edges/Flaws. I
do check, but cannot always, so such a check slows me down. You should
keep this as brief as possible, and if several skills apply, its up to you
to decide which one applies best. I will then make the dice rolls and
translate the result.
ie; (using the action result above;)
OOC: Coordination 3, Athletics (Gynastics) 3(4), Quick Draw
